from remote outcrops...
These stone knives, tools and scrapers were mostly made in the bush :)
.....so my friends don't have to carry too much extra weight ...back over a mountain or through a desert... ;)
Stone tools hafted with Spinifex Resin

Spinifex wax.....Bloodwood...Dry Grass and Charcoal...
... to make the hand grip for stone knife, scrapers, points etc...

Aboriginal Stone Axe
- Split stick Handle
- Hair string
- Spinifex resin
Stone axes decorated with Ochres, Emu Feathers, Hair String (Yes human hair from the hairdressers, rolled into proper string by me...!?) Hand ground on sandstone after being flaked into the rough shape the traditional way.
The handle is Black Wattle, split and heated til soft and then bent double around the axe head.
Hot bloodwood tree resin mixed with a little bit of charcoal and maybe a bit of dry grass as an adhesive. Tied tightly with bark string and
sealed with more resin...
Then painted with Red, Yellow and White ochre with emu feathers joined to any string ends with beeswax.
No two are the same, this one is long gone, but I make them to order anytime. I love making stone tools and and specialise in the Aboriginal stone knife, spear points etc..so just ask...
After I hit 70 yr old, of all the things I wanted to do one of them was to learn silver smithing.
So now I can make most of my artefacts in Silver..!
